YSU Gives Awards to 3 Great Figures

Thursday (21/5/2015), YSU cellebrated its 51th anniversary. Therefore, this education university awarded YSU Awards to three great figures in YSU Anniversary Ceremony. The 2015 Kencana Wijaya was awarded to Musimin, an orchid environmentalist in Merapi, Sleman, and Warso Suwito, an mangrove environmentalist in Kulonprogo, whereas the 2015 Nugraha UNY Dwija Kencana was awarded to Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wardiman Djojonegoro as his dedication in developing national education.

In Indonesia, Only 180 Species of Tropical Plants Used as Ingredients of  Traditional Medicine

“Among 30,000 species of tropical plants identified in Indonesia, 1,260 of them are known for their medical benefits. However, only 180 species are commonly used for ingredients of traditional medicine and modern medicine productions. Furthermore, only a small number of species are instensively cultivated. Besides, there are other species of fungi and microbes which are beneficial for medication.”

Students of YSU Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Won Second Prize of a National Research Paper Competition

They are Mariana Ramelan (Mathematics Education), Rizal Burhanudin (Physics Education), and Muhammad Wahyu Arif (Chemistry).
Together, the three students have won the second prize of the national research paper competition held on April 28th to 30th, 2015 at the Engineering Faculty of Universitas Hasanuddin Makassar, Sulawesi. The theme for this year’s competition was Indonesian Energy Innovation Challenge (IEIC).

Expedition to the Rengganis Land

The Hancala Team (Nature Lover Students at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences) are on their expedition to Baderan Village, Probolinggo District, East Java from May 20 to 30 2015. YSU Gives Awards to Local Schools’ Teachers, Principals, and Supervisors

In its 51st anniversary, YSU held a number of activities such as competitions for YSU students and teachers as well as competitions for school teachers, principals and supervisors in Yogyakarta who have made educational innovations within their institutions.
