Another outstanding national achievement has been recorded by students of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY). The BlockSpire Team secured First Place in the Digital Learning Innovation in Education (IPDP) category at the 2025 Student Digital Innovation Competition (LIDM). The prestigious competition was organized by Belmawa and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology through BPTI and Puspresnas, and was held at Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya from 1 to 3 December 2025.

A total of 22 students from the Department of Physics, Yogyakarta State University (UNY), together with their course lecturer, Dr. Riko Septiantoko, M.Pd., carried out a pandan laut (Pandanus tectorius) planting activity at Pelangi Beach, Bantul, recently. The activity formed part of the Education and Sustainable Development course and served as a concrete contribution by the UNY academic community to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The UNY's students have developed an eco-friendly innovation to help farmers control agricultural pests effectively without relying on chemical pesticides. Through the 2025 Student Entrepreneur Development Program (P2MW) of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, the team—Ihsan Muchlis Amirudin, Afwa Naela Fauzia, and Rose Pita Nur Afifah—introduced the Light Trap Insect (LTI), a solar-powered automatic pest trap designed to support sustainable agriculture.

A delegation from Yogyakarta State University (UNY) took part in the QS Higher Education Summit: Asia Pacific 2025, held at Korea University, South Korea, on 2–8 November 2025. The forum, themed “Advancing Generational Potential: Skills and Partnerships in the Asia Pacific,” served as a global platform for collaboration among higher education leaders and academics from around the world.

The Garuda UNY Team is set to advance to the final round of the 2025 Energy-Efficient Car Contest (Kontes Mobil Hemat Energi/KMHE) after being officially confirmed as a finalist. The team successfully passed a series of selection stages, including administrative screening, vehicle design report evaluation, and an online Virtual Technical Inspection.

The PPK Ormawa Team of BEM FMIPA Yogyakarta State University (UNY) recently conducted a community training program for residents of Prawatan Village, Jogonalan District, Klaten Regency, through a Workshop on IoT-Based Biofloc Catfish Cultivation Integrated with Hydroponic Systems. The event was attended by Prawatan Village Secretary Sriyanto, representatives from UNY’s student affairs office, and local community members.

The UNY Students have developed an innovation in the livestock sector by conducting hands-on training in the production of eco-friendly fermented animal feed at the university’s Livestock Laboratory. The activity served as an applied learning platform, introducing students to feed-processing technology based on natural materials and resource efficiency.

(UNY) has once again reaffirmed its commitment as a global pioneer of inclusive education and gender equality. A lecturer from the Special Education Study Program, Faculty of Education, Nur Azizah, Ph.D, served as a resource person at the Workshop on Lifelong Learning and Inclusion for People with Intellectual Disabilities, part of The 5th Asia Pacific Pre-Congress IASSIDD 2025 held in Singapore.

UNY once again reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability by conducting a mangrove planting activity along the coastal area of Pasir Mendit Beach, Jangkaran, Temon, Kulon Progo, on Sunday (12/10/25). The initiative forms part of UNY’s contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), and SDG 15 (Life on Land)—while also strengthening the university’s performance in the UI GreenMetric (UIGM) ranking, which assesses universities based on environmental sustainability practices.

The Graduate School of Yogyakarta State University (SPs UNY), in collaboration with the Faculty of Education of Technische Universität Dresden (TU Dresden), Germany, recently held a degree conferral ceremony for a graduate of the Joint German–Indonesian Ph.D. Programme in the field of Technology and Vocational Education.
