THE MODEL OF ADVANCED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS
According to a survey conducted internationally, Indonesian students did not show tremendous achievement. The analysis reveals that between 2009 – 2011, most students attending National Examination were found to have difficulties in doing the tasks which required analytical thinking. Moreover, the result of integrated National Higher Education Entrance Exam (SNMPTN) 2012 denotes that most students faced problems when answering questions in integrated Natural Science subject that demanded high analytical skill.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ASSIMILATING INTO BUMI LANGIT ATMOSPHERE
On Thursday (21/4/2016), international students attending BIPA (Indonesian for Non-native Speakers) course from Darmasiswa and Developing Countries Partnership (KNB) scholarship program had a field trip to Bumi Langit, Imogiri. Leading the group was Fitri Alfarisy, BIPA coordinator of Yogyakarta State University (YSU). Their visitation to Bumi Langit aimed at understanding cultural diversity while improving their skill in Bahasa Indonesia that they learnt for some months. The field trip also allowed them to learn a culture in Indonesian society.
“AUTHENTICITY FOR HUMAN NATURE” FASHION SHOW
Students of the Fashion Design Study Program of the Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University held a fashion show titled Authenticity for Human Nature (Authenture). A total of 103 students of the YSU featured the very best of their designs in this show. The event held in the YSU Auditorium was the final project of Diploma and Undergraduate students of the Department of Culinary Art and Fashion, Faculty of Engineering, YSU (19/4).
YSU AND UPN ‘V’ YOGYAKARTA SIGN A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
To enhance partnership for institutional development and to empower human resource in relation to Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (Three Pillars of Tertiary Education), Yogyakarta State University (YSU) and Pembangunan National University ‘Veteran’ (UPN ‘V’) have agreed to cooperate. The cooperation is initiated in the form of MoU signing between both parties, that is, Prof. Dr. Rochmat Wahab, M.Pd., MA as YSU Rector and Prof. Dr. Ir. Sari Bahagiarti K., M.Sc as UPN ‘V’ Rector, in Main Meeting Room, YSU Rectorate Building (20/4).
FLA YSU: ON THE MOVE TO MODERN INNOVATION PEDAGOGY
Faculty of Languages and Arts (FLA), Yogyakarta State University (YSU) together with 4 other universities namely Bina Nusantara University Jakarta, Syiah Kuala University Aceh, Syarif Hidayatullah Islamic State University Jakarta, and Catholic Widya Mandala University Surabaya in collaboration with Stiching Hoger Ondervijs Nederland, Erhversakademi Aarhus Denmark, Uniwersytet Gdanski Poland, and Universidad De Sevilla Spain have recently conducted INDOPED “Modernizing Indonesian Higher Education with Tested European Pedagogical Practices”.
TRACING THE REMAINS OF SYAILENDRA DYNASTY IN THE TEMANGGUNG REGENCY
The team of Student Creativity Program (SCP) YSU is researching the remains of Syailendra dynasty in Temanggung regency, Central Java. The location examined by the students including; Tlahab Tourism Village, Canggal, Kruwisan, Paponan, and Petarangan known as Dewata Cengkar region.
THE JOURNEY TO 2016 INDONESIAN ROBOT CONTEST REGIONAL III
Robot Team of Yogyakarta State University (YSU) is currently preparing for the 2016 Indonesian Robot Contest Regional III (Yogyakarta Special Province, Central Java, and Kalimantan that is going to be held in Diponegoro University, Semarang on 21-23 April 2016. The event is routinely held per annum by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education.
INDONESIAN RECTOR FORUM AND JUDICIAL COMISSION OF INDONESIA SIGN A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
Friday (15/4/2016) was a special day for the members of the Indonesian Rector Forum (IRF), especially for those who belong to the IRF Consideration Council. It was because on that day IRF held two agendas simultaneously, which were the Meeting of the Consideration Council and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Judicial Commission of Indonesia. These two important events were held at the RKU room, Rectorate Building of Yogyakarta State University (YSU). Some of the important figures were Prof. Syawal Gultom, Prof. Suwarsih Madya, and Prof. I Nengah Duija.
JOGJA TV AND YSU STRENGTHEN PARTNERSHIP
Yogyakarta State University (YSU) welcomed the leaders of Jogja TV (13/4/2016). This visitation was as an initial step to build partnership with YSU that will be formalized in the form of MoU signing. This was also the follow-up of several joint-programs held by YSU and Jogja TV for some amount of time before.
