SOCIALIZATION ON INTERNAL MONITORING BY INSPECTORATE GENERAL OF SMRTHE

Inspectorate general of State Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (SMRTHE), Prof. Dr. H. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum. made a visitation to YSU in the attempt to socialize strategy for internal monitoring. It took place in YSU Meeting Room on Monday, 30 November 2015, by inviting Dean, Vice Dean, Head of Division, and Head of Sub-division in YSU. Opening the agenda was Rector of YSU, Prof. Dr. Rochmat Wahab, M.Pd., M.A. He revealed that YSU is committed to green and clean government university as part of its mission as mandated.

UTM – YSU MINI SEMINAR ON SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH PUBLICATION

Faculty of Engineering YSU in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia organized joint seminar entitled “International Scientific Research Publication Seminar in TVET (Technical And Vocational Education and Training)” on Saturday (28/11/2015) in KPLT Building, Faculty of Engineering YSU. Attending the seminar were Master’s students of Vocational Education from both universities.

A DCP STUDENT ELECTED IISA SECRETARY

International Student Summit (ISS) initiated by Indonesian Directorate General of Higher Education was held this year for 3 days, from 16-18 November 2015. Becoming the host of this agenda was University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM). The 4th International Student Summit was followed by a number of international students of both state and private universities. There were 100 international students attending, from 40 countries. YSU in this agenda sent 3 international students and 1 supervisor.

FACULTY OF ECONOMICS YSU WINS THE 3RD PUBLIC HEALTH COMPETITION, JEMBER

Cigarettes or smokes bring dilemma to Indonesian society. On one hand, cigarettes cause several diseases, leading to death, and thus are considered dangerous; on the other hand, cigarettes generate revenue for Indonesia, for both the state and the people. This raises several pros and cons in all elements of society. It is noted the increase in ciggarette consumption reaches 5% annually, followed with the fact that now more people are consuming it at a younger age.

THE HARMONY OF GAMELAN BY INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Gamelan is sort of traditional music instrument rich in Indonesian culture. Existed since ancient kingdoms, Gamelan is still being performed until today. It composes kendhang, bonang, peking, saron, demung, slenthem, gong, and many more. These music equipment are often performed in internatinal scale both in cultural exchange or in ceremonial, state events held by government of Indonesia. Some foreigners also show their interest in learning these instruments further due to the unique harmony it produces.

YSU GRABS 2015 PUBLIC RELATION MEDIA AWARD

Yogyakarta State University was awarded the second runner up of 2015 Public Relation Media Award for National Category of Institution Profile. The winner and runner up are The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and Secretariat State Information Centers. The annual award was held by Bakohumas (Public Relation Coordinating Board or Badan Koordinasi Kehumasan) which is a coordination forum of state institutions’ public relation center.

YSU – UITM INITIAL DISCUSSION ON COOPERATION

On the move to the world class university, Yogyakarta State University (YSU) through its Graduate School tries to widen its cooperation network with foreign institutions. TO RESEARCH BIOTIC DIVERSITY IN KARST CAVES

Numerous unique phenomena exist in karst, namely biological diversity, both in the inside and outside. The biological phenomena in the carst areas are interesting to research, such as biotic diversity in caves and kinds of biotic adaptation in totally dark karst caves. The cave topography is characterized with low energy source, stable microclimate condition compared to the outside, and high humidity; those make up the home of unique and typical biota.

ARM-IN-ARM WITH UNIVERSITY OF HULL, UNITED KINGDOM

Faculty of Mathematics and Science (FMS), Yogyakarta State University (YSU) shows its strong intention to participate in the attempt of bringing YSU to the World Class University, namely through building international cooperation with University of Hull (UH), United Kingdom. Housed in Meeting Room 1 FMS, this discussion was emphasized on seeking potential collaboration between FMS YSU and UH. Attending the discussion were Dr. Hartono, M.Si. as the Dean of FMS, and also Head of Mathematics Education, Head of Physics, and Staff of Office of International Affairs and Partnerships (OIAP) YSU.
