OIAP YSU HELD SELECTION OF JAVANESE LANGUAGE AND CULTURE TUTORS

The Office of International Affairs and Partnerships (OIAP), Yogyakarta State University (YSU) again held selection of tutors for Indonesian for Non-native Speakers (INS) program. Unlike the other previous selections, this current selection is intended to look for Javanese language and culture tutors. This is a new, official program, included in a series of INS programs.

STUDENTS OF FMS YSU WON THE FIRST PRICE AT THE 2016 OF NATIONAL SCIENTIFIC ESSAY CONTEST AGROFEST EUI

Students of Faculty of Mathematics and Science (FMS), Yogyakarta State University (YSU), managed to obtain a satisfactory result in the event of 2016 National Scientific Writing Competition Agrofest at the Education University of Indonesia (EUI). The students are Herianto (Natural Science Education), May Rina Nuraini (Chemistry), and Mutiara Khalida (Mathematics Education). The collaboration of these departments successfully result in the winning of the first prize, while the runner-up was achieved by the host that is EUI, and the third prize was won by the University of Padjadjaran.

UNY PERFORMED TRADITIONAL DANCES AT THE MELAYU DAY OF YALA, THAILAND

In order to promote culture, traditional customs, and Islam in Thailand, while stimulating economic growth in the area of southern Thailand, the city government of Mueang Yala organized the annual agenda of Melayu Day of Yala on 12 to 14 February 2016. Melayu Day of Yala has been held three times in the city. Some neighboring countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia were reported to attend the agenda. In this event, the Yogyakarta State University (YSU) is one of the universities that represented Indonesia on the agenda.

THAI STUDENTS FOLLOW CREDIT TRANSFER PROGRAM AT THE FMS YSU

A total of 11 students from Yala Rajabhat University of Thailand follow the credit transfer program at the Faculty of Mathematics and Science (FMS), Yogyakarta State University (YSU). They will study for one semester starting in February 2016. Those who study comprise of 3 students of Department of Physics Education, 3 students of Department of Chemistry Education, and 5 students of Department of Biology Education. The meeting between students and teachers was held on Friday, (2/12) in the faculty meeting room.

INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION BETWEEN FSS YSU AND FSSK UPSI

On the move to comply with the vision of Faculty of Sport Science (FSS), Yogyakarta State University (YSU) is to be collaborative with institutions, both internal and external. This is realized in collaboration with a higher, Malaysian institution, namely Fakulti Sains Sukan dan Kejurulatihan, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (FSSK UPSI) (16/2) in Main Meeting Room, GPLA FSS. The collaboration started with welcoming the visitation and discussion with the Fakulti related to credit transfer, student exchange, and teaching practice in Gunung Kidul, DIY.

FLA EXTENDS WARM WELCOME TO 4 FONTYS STUDENTS

Housed in Dance and Music Laboratory, Faculty of Languages and Arts (FLA) of Yogyakarta State University (YSU), Dr. Widyastuti Purbani, M.A. as the Dean of FLA YSU welcomed the coming of 4 students from Netherlands (5/2/2016). This is the third times for Fontys University to send their students to seek for knowledge in YSU. Previously, in 2014 and 2015, Fontys also mandated some of the outstanding students to deepen their knowledge in Indonesian language and culture for one semester and then to teach in an elementary school in Yogyakarta.

SRINAKHARINWIROT UNIVERSITY VISITATION TO THE FACULTY OF EDUCATION OF YSU

The Faculty of Education of Srinakharinwirot University, Bangkok sent three lecturers who are Dr.Gumpanat Boriboon, Assist. Prof. Dr. Pasana Chukarut and Dr. Patcharaporn Srisawat to the Faculty of Education, Yogyakarta State University (YSU) to conduct an interview for a possible research project. (2/2). Their intention was to explore the effective model of education in Indonesia in regards of the emerging challenge raised in the fast pace of changing era and the demand of teachers in the era of ASEAN Economic Community.

MONITORING AND EVALUATION YSU RECTOR TOWARDS U-19 NATIONAL TEAM

As an attempt to monitor and evaluate young national athletes of Indonesia, Yogyakarta State University (YSU) is committed to support potential development of Indonesian athletes, both inside and outside the field of play. The commitment is reflected from the opening of a special class to accommodate the learning process of U-19 national team players in the Sport Coaching Education, Faculty of Sport Science (FSS). The team belongs to Class D and have taken 30 credits so far.

PARALEL COMMISSION MEETING OF 2016 IRF IN YSU

Colleges should improve quality in today’s more intense competition, i.e. by way of training and innovation conducted by higher education. Higher education is considered good if it benefits industry and society. Higher education is expected to generate useful innovation through research. Then, research publication can be developed into an innovation. This is according to the statement of Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, Prof. Mohamad Nasir, Ph.d., Ak.
