BIOPLASTIC FROM DIOSCOREA TUBER’S STARCH
The students Faculty of Mathematics and Science (FMS) YSU succeeded in harnessing the starch of dioscorea tuber to create an environment-friendly bioplastic. Through their research entitled The Synthesis and Characterization of Environment-Friendly Bio-plastic based on Yogyakarta’s local dioscorea, Dita Ardwiyanti along with her team from Natural Science Education Department belonging to the Student’s Research Creativity Program (PKMP) managed to make bio-plastic materials that have not been widely used.
YSU INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS FEEL AMAZED WITH JAVANESE MITONI
Saturday (4/6/2016), 15 international students of Yogyakarta State University (YSU) attended Mitoni ceremony, that is a traditional Javanese ceremony held to celebrate the 7th month of pregnancy. The ceremony was held for a couple of Fikriatun and Wilis. In fact, Fikriatun was the daughter of Suwarsih Madya, Ph.D Professor at the Faculty of Languages and Arts that was also the former Vice Rector IV of YSU.
YSU SECURES 1ST POSITION IN A NATIONAL SCIENTIFIC WRITING COMPETITION
Student Creativity Unit “Reality” of Faculty of Education, Yogyakarta State University (YSU) recently held National Scientific Writing Competition 2016 with the theme of “The Role of Indonesian Young Generation in Maintaining A Nation’s Integration”. The aim was to enhance students’ creativity to actively participate in keeping the nation’s integration through scientific writing.
FACULTY OF ENGINEERING YSU RECEIVES HEAVY DUTY EQUIPMENT GRANT FROM THIESS LTD
Faculty of Engineering (FE) Yogyakarta State University (YSU) received grant in the form of heavy duty equipment from Thiess Contractor Indonesia Ltd. The equipment are Caterpillar mining truck, diesel engine, bucket cylinder, air compressor, gear pump, hoist pump, turbocharger Garrett and others. These equipment take up a lot of space, thus the FE’s parking lot located at the east side of the faculty is now dedicated to place these equipment.
FAREWELL CEREMONY FOR ENGLISH WORKSHOP INSTRUCTORS
English Workshop entitled "On the Job Training" held by Yogyakarta State University (YSU) has just come to an end on Friday June 3rd, 2016. As an expression of gratitude, especially to Jenise Rowekamp and Margaret Miller as the instructors from the University of Minessota, a farewell ceremony was held as well as the closing of the workshop. FINAL PROJECT PRESENTATION OF DEVELOPING COUNTRIES PARTNERSHIP STUDENTS 2016
(Thursday, 6 June 2016) There was an interesting event going on in Yogyakarta State University. The event that was held by the Office of International Affairs and Partnership was one of the parts of the Seminar class taught by Ella Wulandari, M. A. This event was the final project of the Developing Countries Partnership students (KNB) by presenting or sharing their knowledge to public.
YSU’S RACE CAR MARKS THE FASTEST RECORD DURING THE HISTORY OF SOUTH KOREAN ISCC
Garuda Hybrid 16 (GH 16), the race car of Garuda UNY Team (GUT) from Yogyakarta State University (YSU) has completed its performance in the 2016 International Student Car Competition (ISCC) in South Korea (27-28). The competition took place in the Proving Ground KATRI Songsan-Myun, Hwasong-si, Gyeonggi-Do, South Korea.
OIAP INVITES TWO LECTURERS FROM MINESSOTA, US TO TEACH ENGLISH
To enhance the ability of academics in Yogyakarta State University (YSU) in speaking English, the Office of International Affairs and Partnerships (OIAP) YSU hosted English Training "On the Job Training". This training was designed for lecturers, staff members, and some students, particularly those who would be involved in activities that require communication in English.
OIAP ORGANIZES BIPA TEACHER TRAINING 2016
On Tuesday, 24 Mei was held Opening and First Day of Bipa Teacher Training for basic and intermediate level in Hotel UNY. The training took place for 3 days, from 24 to 26 May 2016. Around 28 participants of basic level and 19 participants of intermediate level attended the training. They came from various backgrounds, namely Indonesian Language, English, Accounting, Russians, German Language, and France Language.
