TERMO ROOF PANEL, ELECTRICITY GENERATING ROOF PANEL BY YSU’S FACULTY OF ENGINEERING STUDENTS

Students who joined the PKM (Students Creativity Unit) team -Cipta Karsa Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University have the idea to make Termo Roof Panel, a technological innovation solar thermal collectors that converts heat into electrical energy (solar heat harvester) based on phase change material as a solution to overcome the energy crisis in Indonesia.

CLOSING CEREMONY OF INTENSIVE ENGLISH COURSE 2016 BY YSU RECTOR

In the year 2016, Yogyakarta State University (YSU) once again made a collaboration with USINEC (U.S./Indonesia Education Consortium) in hosting Intensive English Course for 77 hours to enhance the English skill of 72 YSU lecturers. The course was delivered in 4 materials, consisting of academic writing, public speaking, cultural class, and article consultation session. Held for three weeks from 18 July to 5 August 2016, the program invited two instructors from the US, namely Sally Jane Kloppe and Sandra Kay Stroo.

YSU RECTOR REPRESENTS INDONESIA IN THE MOU SIGNING OF CHINA-INDONESIA UNIVERSITY THINK-TANK ALLIANCE

Yogyakarta State University Rector (YSU), Prof. Dr. Rochmat Wahab, M.Pd., M.A received the honor of representing Indonesia in signing the Memorandum of Understanding of China- Indonesia University Think-Tank Alliance. The Chinese representative was the President of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BSFU), Prof. Peng Long. The agenda took place in Gui Yang, China (1/8). The Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Menristekdikti) Indonesia, Prof. H. Mohamad Nasir, Ph.D., Ak. and Ministry of Education China, Prof. Chen Baosheng, were also present in the agenda.

ABU DEWA, A COLOR DETECTION TOOL FOR THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED

A group of Yogyakarta State University (YSU) chaired by Ageng Widi Atmoko (Electrical Engineering Education 2014) and consisting of Puput Pujiyanti (Physics Education 2013), Hendriana Helda Pratama (Electrical Engineering Education 2013), Nony Dias Frimana (Out-of-school Education 2013) and Fenti Richa Rukmana (Biology Education 2014) has received grants from the Ministry of Higher Education and Research in the 2016 Student Creativity Program (PKM).

AUTOMATIC PCB ETCHING MACHINE

A group of Yogyakarta State University (YSU) students named Khoirudin Wisnu Mahendra, Dytya Rahmawati, Amin Sri Wahyu Ningrum, Novia Sabdawati and Muhammad Nur Huda who are also members of Student Creativity Unit of Technology in the Faculty of Engineering invented an automatic etching machine named PCB Etching Machine (PEM).

UNIVERSITY OF LEEDS OFFERS MANY INTERESTING EDUCATIONAL POST-GRAD PROGRAMS

The Office of International Affairs and Partnership of Yogyakarta State University (YSU) together with University of Leeds held information session of study in Leeds which took place at Abdullah Sigit Meeting Room, Faculty of Education (28/7). Representatives of Leeds who attended this event were: Premila Kanaphaty from International Office of Leeds, Dr. Mary Chambers as the Director of Student Education and Associate, Laura Pearson from Maths and Physical Science School and Bonnie Susilo from Branch Coordinator SUN Education Yogyakarta.

GARUDA FORMULA 16 IS TO COMPETE IN JAPAN

Yogyakarta State University (YSU) students who are members of Garuda Formula 16 (FG16) will compete in the 2016 Formula Student Japan organized by Society of Automotive Engineering of Japan (JSAE) in early September. This competition is one of a series of Formula Student from SAE International. This is the most prestigious competition among universities and institutes around the world.

STRAW WASTE POTS TO REPLACE POLY BAGS

Poly bags are much utilized in the process of the seedbed of many types of plants, ranging from agricultural crops, plantation, to plant forestry. Along with the growing number of needs for the use of poly bags, the issue on abundant waste of plastic has risen. Poly bags are made of plastic waste which is very difficult to unravel by microbes in the soil, causing much bigger land pollution. Currently, there is a wide range of efforts to reduce the use of poly bags, one of which is by using organic pots.
