On Friday evening, May 16, 2025, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) hosted a solemn Reflection Night to mark its 61st anniversary. Held in the university's Main Assembly Hall, the event brought together university leaders, faculty members, students, alumni, and guests to honor UNY's enduring commitment to education since its establishment on May 21, 1964. 

The short course program themed “(Poly)Crisis, Cross-Cultural Responses & Resilience” organized by Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) reached its 12th day on Friday, May 16, 2025, marking the conclusion of the two-week series of activities. The day began with a public lecture titled “Digital Literacy for Disaster Technology Resilience in Indonesia,” delivered by Dr. Safitri Yosita Ratri, S.Si., M.Pd., M.Ed., Ph.D., accompanied by Dr. Ella Wulandari, M.A., Ph.D.

Festival Dalang Cilik (Young Puppeteer Festival) 2025,  part of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta's (UNY) 61st-anniversary celebrations, brought together 58 young Dalang (puppeteers) aged 9 to 15 from Yogyakarta, Central Java, and East Java. Over three days, from May 13 to 15, 2025, eighteen finalists showcased their talents, celebrating the rich tradition of Javanese puppetry in a vibrant cultural display.

Imagine a group of students and lectures from Western Sydney University (WSU) traveling all the way to Yogyakarta, not just to learn, but also to be amazed by the green spirit of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY). The vibrant atmosphere of Yogyakarta in the second week of the two-week program titled "(Poly)Crisis, Cross-Cultural Responses & Resilience," exploring the theme of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13: disaster mitigation and climate change, not only broadened perspectives but also presented real inspiration.

The Master's Program in Physics Education at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), recently welcomed assessors from the Independent Accreditation Institute for Education (LAMDIK) for a Field Assessment (Asesmen Lapangan). The event, held at UNY’s campus, was officially opened by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Nur Hidayanto Pancoro Setyo Putro, S.Pd., M.Pd., Ph.D., alongside Vice Rector for Finance Prof. Dr. Lantip Diat Prasojo, S.T., M.Pd., and other university officials.

Entering the second week of a two-week program titled "(Poly)Crisis, Cross-Cultural Responses & Resilience," a delegation from Western Sydney University (WSU) along with Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) visited the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The focus of this visit was Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13: Disaster Mitigation and Climate Change, highlighting Yogyakarta's efforts in building disaster resilience.

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) celebrated its 61st anniversary by hosting the 2025 Festival Dalang Cilik (Young Puppeteer Festival), held from May 13 to 15 at the Pendopo Foodcourt UNY. This event was dedicated to preserving the rich tradition of wayang (puppet theater) from an early age, providing a platform for young participants to learn and showcase their talents in shadow puppetry.

On May 8, 2025, the Department of Social Studies Education at FISIP UNY, in collaboration with the Social Studies Teacher Working Group (MGMP IPS) of Salatiga City, organized a workshop titled "Implementing Deep Learning for Innovation in Social Studies Education in the Digital Era." Held at the auditorium of SMP Negeri 2 Salatiga, the event brought together numerous Social Studies teachers from various schools across Salatiga.

On the eighth day of the Western Sydney University (WSU) delegation’s visit to Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), the program (Poly)Crisis, Cross-Cultural Responses & Resilience focused on SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation. One of the highlights of the day was a visit to Cokrodiningratan Tourism Village, a riverside community along the Code River that stands as a real example of how disaster mitigation and water conservation can be managed directly by local residents.

In a world increasingly affected by climate change and unpredictable disasters, who would have thought that Indonesia would become a learning hub for a developed country like Australia?
