UNY STUDENTS INNOVATION: FISHERIES DRYING TOOL

Novi Syaifatun Kamala and Intania Betari Miranda created a tool called Smart Fish House (SFH). According to Novi, Smart Fish House uses the principle of a wall trombe, in which there is a narrow room filled with air in the form of glass. "The principle works is that the outer surface will be heated by sunlight, then the light is slowly moved into a narrow room," Novi said. Then the heat in the room will be connected.

MOU SIGNING OF UNY WITH KRATON OF YOGYAKARTA

Yogyakarta State University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Yogyakarta Palace at Royal Ambarrukmo, on Tuesday March 5. This activity took place at the international symposium of Javanese culture and the Kraton Yogyakarta manuscript. The signing of the memorandum of understanding was carried out by the King of Kraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X and Rector of UNY, Sutrisna Wibawa.

FACULTY OF ENGINERING UNY WELCOME ROBOTICS TEAM AND GARUDA UNY TEAM

The Faculty of Engineering UNY welcomed the Robotics Team and Garuda UNY Team in the Hall of Faculty of Engineering on 7 May 2019. Both teams achieved valuable result in each event they participated in, namely the UNY Garuda Team won 2nd place in the Urban Concept Category and broke the Asia and World record in terms of distance at the 2019 Shell Eco-marathon Asia in Sepang, Malaysia while the UNY Robotics team became General Champion at the Indonesia 2019 Regional Robot Contest 3 in Purwokerto.

MATHEMATICAL MODEL AS STARTING POINT FOR PROBLEM SOLVING

dr. M.L.A.M. Maarten Dolk from the Faculty of Science, Utrecht University, Netherlands, gave lectures to all students of the UNY Mathematics Education Masters Program on 29 to 30 April 2019. The lecture was conducted in the form of team teaching together with Mathematics lecturers Model, Ariyadi Wijaya, Ph.D. At the event, Dr. Maarten outlines the rules of Realistics Mathematics Education completed with very inspiring examples. Maarten proposed a "Meter" to measure the amount of PAM water used by customers.

All countries have the same goal, namely progress and prosperity which is only achieved if the nation always increases the added value that can be achieved by using and mastering technology. Without technology, we cannot provide good added value. Our basic technology is education because education will be the base to build our future. As stated by Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla as the keynote speaker in the national seminar of the UNY Alumni Association in the Main Session Room, Saturday (4/5).

COMPACT VERSION OF “ORKES MADUN OF ARIFIN C. NOER” PERFORMED BY TEATER TRIYASA

For three consecutive days, Teater Triyasa performed the drama “Orkes Madun” by Arifin C. Noer at UNY Performance Hall started from 24 to 26 april 2019. Unlike common performances that is set as pentalogy, Teater Triyasa has summarized the script without reducing the story essence.

LIBRARY OF UNY BOOSTED E-BOOK AND JOURNAL USE FOR STUDENTS ACADEMIC NEED

The presence of UNY’s Digital Library helps students, especially those in the final year, in finding references to complete the final assignment. But since digital library is offering new media use, this is important to ensure that student will be able to use the new media effectively.  To boost further the use of digital reference, UNY’s Library Unit held an e-book and journal information dissemination on Tuesday, 30 April 2019. The dissemination session had Erik Junikon from Ebsco and Joan from Cambridge as speakers.

FESTIVAL UNY NJATHIL 2019: PRESERVING CULTURE AND BREAKING MURI NATIONAL RECORD

UNY held Festival UNY Njathil as part of 55th UNY anniversary celebration on Thursday, 2 May 2019. Kuswarsantyo, the committee chairman for the festival, said that njatil is substantially can be symbolized as the spirit to totally focus on working, researching, serving the community and other positive effort to develop UNY and Indonesia. Kuswarsantyo, known as Doctor Jathilan, explained that jathilan or kuda kepang or braided horse is a popular dance show in Java.
