UNY Partnership with Belitung for Better Human Resources Quality

The Belitung Regency Government signed a joint agreement with Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) on Wednesday (25/1) in Sleman by Belitung Regent Sahani Saleh, S.Sos and UNY Rector Prof. Sumaryanto. "We have been waiting for a collaborative visit from Belitung Regency. Hopefully, we will get a positive result from the collaboration we will carry out with Belitung Regency," said the Rector of UNY.

“Students find it difficult to understand abstract concepts full of scientific jargon. They must go through the process by practicing it so they have a solid understanding. We need to invite students to understand science in a real-life context," said Rachid Rafei, B.Sc., from Ossmoyne Senior High School, Perth, Australia, in a General Lecture in the Department of Biology Education UNY.

"The certified independent study and internship (MSIB) program is a bridge for students to prepare themselves to become professional practitioners, entrepreneurs, academics, or freelancers. Students must be prepared to face technological, socio-cultural, labor, and environmental challenges. Internship activities also open up opportunities for students to get a job offer before graduation," said Ria Aprilia, M.Psi. as MSIB manager. This session provided more overview of the MSIB Program(Internship and Certified Independent Study) and PMM Program (Independent Student Exchange).

Enriching Student Experience through a One-Year Internship Program in Japan

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) sent off 17 students who would go on internships at Isuzu Motor, Ltd. at Tochigi Factory, Japan, on January 13, 2023. "A total of 17 students will be doing internships at Isuzu Japan. These students consist of 11 Mechanical Engineering Education students, 1 Manufacturing Engineering student, and 5 Applied Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering students. They have gone through the selection stage directly from Japanese companies. They have also received training in Japanese language and culture, which is needed to work in Japan," said Dr. Apri Nuryanto, S.Pd.

Teacher Recruitment for Schools in Oil Palm Plantation Areas

PT Best Agro International, which is engaged in oil palm plantations, embraces UNY in meeting the needs of teachers for schools in Central Kalimantan. The recruitment was held at IKA Building of UNY, Thursday (12/1). According to the Secretary of the Directorate of Academic Affairs, Student Affairs and Alumni of UNY, Kristiyono, this collaboration is one of the activities in empowering UNY alumni in finding jobs. Recruitment was carried out online and offline, followed by a total of 36 people, of which 6 people followed it offline.

UNY Lecturer Becomes a Visiting Professor at Satbayev University, Kazakhstan

Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Didik Nurhadiyanto, ST., MT., IPU, ASEAN Eng. gave a public lecture in front of the staff and students of the Undergraduate, Masters and Doctoral Degree Department of Mining and Metallurgical Institute, Satbayev University, Kazakhstan. Prof. Didik Nurhadiyanto gave material in public lectures on two topics. The first topic is the 'Development of Corrugated Metal Gaskets for Pipe-to-Pipe Joints'.

Closing Ceremony for UNY’s Pertukaran Mahasiswa Merdeka (PPM)

UNY sent off 137 students who participated in the Independent Student Exchange (PMM) 2 in the Rector's Main Meeting Room on Friday (6/1). UNY Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Siswantoyo, said that next year's PMM program student services would be further improved in line with the change in status of UNY from Public Service University to a State University with a Legal Entity. "The PMM students will be placed in the UNY Wedomartani dormitory starting on August 29, 2022 and ending on January 6, 2023," he said.

Teaching Green Catalyst for chemical transformation at Satbayev University, Kazakhstan

Isti Yunita, M.Sc., Ph.D., lecturer in the Department of Chemistry Education, UNY, recently became a visiting professor at the Department of Mining and Metallurgical Institute, Satbayev University, Kazakhstan. Isti had the opportunity to teach about "Green Catalyst for chemical transformation: The need for sustainable development". Isti explained about the manufacture of catalysts from egg shell waste to overcome the problem of plastic bottle waste, so that it can be concluded from the optimization of waste to solve waste problem.
