Wednesday, March 20, 2019 The Rector of Yogyakarta State University (UNY) officially sent off the Garuda UNY Team to compete in the Asia Regional Shell Eco Marathon competition. This competition will be held on April 29, 2019. Garuda UNY Team will compete with other participants from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Australia and China. According to Dr. Zainal Arifin, M.T. as the advisor of the Garuda UNY Team, the team preparation was different from the previous year.

In supporting the need of affordable or even free place to learn for local communities, semi autonomous unit of IPA Mengajar HIMAIPA UNY officially opened their program offering free place to learn named “BSO IPA mengajar” on Thursday, March 7th in Pringwulung, Condongcatur, Depok, Sleman, D.I. Yogyakarta.

Fadilah Fajar Bagaskara or known as Bagas, an Accounting student of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, won the National Stocklab Competition on March 11, 2019. The competition was held in Islamic University of Indonesia. National Stocklab Competitions was the opening agenda of Islamic Economic Fair under the theme of “Islamic Economic reinforcement in Industrial era 4.0”. There are 40 participant in this competition.

The Faculty of Languages and Arts (FBS) of Yogyakarta State University (UNY) received students of Cultural Visit program from Aichi University of Education (AUE). This program begins with the holding of the welcoming ceremony as the official session of acceptance. The Welcoming Ceremony was held in the Sidang Utama Senat room. This activity was held on 12 March 2019.

The uncontrolled flow of imported fashion is inevitably a threat for local designers, especially in the rise of local fashion industry recently supported by several factors; a better quality of product, increasing economy, and the popularity of online retail.

As a consequence, students from both Fashion Design Study Program (S1 and D3) sparked an idea to support local fashion by conducting a fashion show called “TROMGINE”, an abbreviation for The Role of Millennial Generation in Natural/Natural on the next April 11th 2019 at Auditorium of UNY.

The Garuda UNY Racing Team (GURT) participated in the Yogyakarta Millennial Road Safety Festival at Titik 0 Kilometer, on Sunday (10/3). The presence of the Garuda UNY Car Team is to participate and give a message as millennial citizens as well, to pay attention to safety in driving. This is proven by the Safety Award at the 2018 Shell Eco-marathon Asia event held at the Changi Exhibition Center, Singapore.

An outstanding performance showed by the UNY karate team in Southeast Asian Championship Sebelas Maret Cup 8-10 March 2019. This biennial championship was held at GOR Sritex Arena under the theme “Brave to Break the Limit”.

Team from engineering faculty of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta become a runner-up for national research paper competition at Animal Science USU Competition (ASUSCO) 2019. The competition was hold by Universitas Sumatera Utara in February. The team members consist 3 of students from different major in engineering faculty, Dwi Arianto from mechanical engineering, M. Galih Alkaustar from mechatronic engineering education, and Ardi Jati Nugroho from Mechanical Engineering education.

A student from Biology Education, Faculty of Mathematics and Sciences, Setiarti Dwi Rahayu, is able to finish her study with an impressive 3.65 GPA. Not only being favorable in her academic matters, she is also one of the members of UNY’s Student Choir “Swara Wadhana”, who has taken home the silver medal at the prestigious Bali International Choir Festival held in Prime Plaza Hotel and Suites, Sanur, Bali last year. The choir team successfully won the silver medal for both Mix Choir and Folklore category.
