Saga Independent Gymnastics Makes the Elderly More Independent, Healthy, and Fit

Older people experience significant changes physically, psychologically, and socially. These changes certainly affect all aspects of older people's life, including health. Rifky Riyandi Prastyawan tried to develop gymnastic movements that could improve the physical fitness and psychological and social wellbeing of older people in his dissertation research. According to him, these older adults deserve a healthier life if they get the right gymnastic exercise pattern. In addition, if older people remain healthy and fit, they can live independently without depending on others.

"My Journey" to assist self-service for visually impaired students

Students with visual impairments often experience difficulties performing independent care, namely orientation and mobility, that can be done independently without the need for assistive devices or the help of others. To help blind people facilitate mobility, a group of students from the Special Education program of the Faculty of Education and Psychology UNY designed My Journey. They are Dewi Meiliyan Ningrum, Kenanga Kusuma Murdiyani, Ardian Haryo Suseno and Khairil Mursyidin.

UNY 2023 Photography Competition - theme: Capturing the Freedom of Learning in the Harmony of Indonesian Diversity

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta held a Photography Competition with the theme "Photographing Freedom of Learning in the Harmony of Indonesian Diversity." The competition is divided into two categories: students and the general public. This competition was opened on May 22, 2023. Based on the assessment process by the jury, the results of the participants' work were announced with a media Zoom meeting on Friday, 7/14/23. Aran Handoko, M.Sn., Nur Pinto Hadi, and Dwi Prasetyo Budi Santosa were acting as judges.

Promoting quality inclusive education through Universal Design for Learning (UDL)

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) held the 1st Indonesian Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Summit 2023 at the Rectorate Main Conference Room on Friday (7/7). The summit, attended by more than 300 participants online and offline, was opened by UNY Vice Rector for Planning and Finance Prof. Lantip Diat Prasojo, representing the Rector and attended by Deputy Cultural Affairs Officer of the US Embassy Abraham Lee.

The Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia has been ongoing since early 2020, caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 19 (SARS-CoV-2). By 2023, there were more than 61 million confirmed cases in Southeast Asia; by May 2023, around 767 million people worldwide were infected. As of May 31, Indonesia has reported more than 6.8 million positive cases of Covid-19, with a death toll of around 161 thousand. However, the number of Covid-19 survivors is also quite large. As many as 87.4% of survivors still feel persistent symptoms, including chronic fatigue and shortness of breath.

Teaching Children English Through Culinary Day

Kanisha Suryadinarta and Makayla Maulida Noviar's faces lit up as their homemade gimbab was served. The Korean specialty sits on a simple table alongside food from other countries, such as sandwiches and barbeques made from meat or vegetables. Kanisha and Kayla were among the English For Holidays (EFH) participants in the Culinary Day held in the courtyard of Ki Ageng Suryometaram Building, Faculty of Language Arts and Culture UNY. Interestingly, the Culinary Day chefs consisted of children aged 4-18 eager to process food ingredients into delicious dishes.

Measuring Students' Multiple Intelligent (MI) in Basketball Games

Nurul Huda considers that there is still no specific instrument to measure students' Multiple Intelligences (MI) in basketball games and optimize intelligence in winning competitions. As a former athlete, this encouraged her to start research on Multiple Intelligent (MI) with her dissertation entitled "Development of Multiple Intelligence-Based Basketball Game Assessment Model in High School." Nurul believes that this research is very useful for PE teachers. Similar tests do not exist at home and abroad, and basketball games have no MI.

Improving publicity and positive image of programs on campus

In 2022 UNY won 11 awards in the Ristekdikti Award in the Public Service Agency cluster. This year, the competition is even tougher because UNY is included in the Legal Entity State Universities cluster. The benefits of this award are introducing institutions, programs, and products of State Universities, Private Universities, partners, journalists and media, and other stakeholders.

UNY Launches PhD Program in Engineering Focused on Green Technology

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) has introduced a new PhD program in Engineering under the Faculty of Engineering for the 2023/2024 academic year. The program offers 10 specializations: electrical engineering, electronics, informatics, mechatronics, mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, civil engineering, architecture, environmental engineering, and industrial engineering.

UNY Opens Engineering Science Study Program Based on Green Technology

Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta opened a new study program in the 2023/2024 academic year, the Doctoral Program in Engineering Science at the Faculty of Engineering. According to the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Herman Dwi Surjono, Ph.D., the purpose of opening this study program is to provide opportunities for the community to develop and deepen their knowledge in the engineering field, especially the doctoral degree.
