Preserving Javanese culture through Festival Dalang Cilik

UNY believes that cultural preservation efforts need to start at an early age. For this reason, UNY provides an opportunity for 30 young dalang (puppeteers) to compete in the Festival Dalang Cilik (Young Puppeteer Festival) UNY 2024.  The participants of this competition consisted of 15 elementary school students and 15 junior high school students. Interestingly, out of the 30 participants, there were 4 female dalang. The festival was held in the UNY-assisted village of Krapyak IX, Margoagung, Seyegan, Sleman.

UNY shares the spirit of maintaining health and strengthening social resilience in Kulon Progo

UNY celebrates its 60th anniversary with various activities, one of which is a healthy walk and social service in Kulon Progo on May 5, 2024. "The activities that we hold are part of UNY's commitment and dedication in the framework of the 60th Anniversary of UNY. Let us use this activity as a momentum in exploring and the first step of the golden village program that will be held for the next one year in the Terbah and Serut Pengasih hamlets. Through this program, UNY will prioritize Pengasih Village in various activities such as PKM, research, and institutional collaboration.

Holistic organic waste management by utilizing Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae as decomposing agents

The community service team of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UNY seeks to encourage sustainable organic waste management. One of the efforts comes through counseling activities on the utilization of Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) larvae as part of organic waste management and strengthening food security in Dukuh Serut, Kulon Progo district. in the activity held on May 1, 2024, there were 25 participants from the Women Farmers Group (KWT) Dukuh Serut.

Recognizing the causes of stress and finding solutions

A total of 499 people consisting of members of the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP), representatives of lecturers, and staff attended the National Seminar entitled "Stress Management and Emotional Safety to Improve Healthy Life Balance". This activity presented three speakers, namely Dr. Kartika Nur Fathyah, S.PPsi, M.Si (UNY Lecturer), Dr. H. Fahrudin Faiz, S.Ag, M.Ag (UIN Sunan Kalijaga Lecturer) and Triantoro Safaria, M.Si, Ph.D (UAD Lecturer) and moderator Dyah Ayu Purwaningtyas, S.Psi, M.A (UNY Lecturer).

UNY facilitates prospective students with special needs in the entrance exam

"This year, UNY facilitates 4 visually impaired participants and 20 physically challenged participants in the entrance exam," said UNY Head of Admissions Dr. Bambang Saptono. The services provided by UNY are the placement of participants with disabilities in strategic places that are easily accessible, the provision of wheelchairs, and special assistants. For the visually impaired, the test time was allocated on Thursday, May 2, in a separate room with a companion from an experienced lecturer of the Special Education study program.

Rector Awards 2,328 Outstanding UNY Students

Coinciding with the ceremony in commemoration of National Education Day on May 2, 2024, the Rector of UNY gave awards to 2,328 UNY students who excel in the field of reasoning (723 students), sports (495 students), arts (620 students), and special interest (639 students). The ceremony was held symbolically at the UNY Rectorate Courtyard.

O'zbekiston Davlat Jismony Tarbiya Va Sport Universiteti, Uzbekistan visited UNY on Monday (29/4) in the Main Conference Room. The delegation of Uzbekistan Sport University was Vice-Rector for International Relations Prof. Zarifbayev Jasur Shavkatovich, Dean of Faculty of Management and Organizing Sports Events Komil Ziyadullaev, Dean of Faculty of Water Sports Matnazarov Khayrulla and Head of Department of International Cooperation Mukhriddin Yuldoshev.

Learning integrated natural sciences learning from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI)

Dr. Mohamad Termizi Bin Borhan from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) shared his valuable knowledge in the field of integrated natural sciences learning through the Visiting Professor program of the EQUITY Project scheme. A total of 146 bachelor's degree students of natural sciences education learned about the dynamics of integrated natural sciences learning in Southeast Asia and its application specifically in Malaysia. Meanwhile, 47 UNY students who are pursuing master's and doctoral degrees in Natural Sciences Education learned about Problem & Project Based Learning.
