BIONIC UNY pioneers Eco-Edu Forest in Purwoharjo

The Bionic team of UNY students pioneered the development of Purwoharjo as an Eco-Edu Forest. "Through this activity, we want to contribute to the community in order to build an active, independent, and prosperous fostered area. On the other hand, the community is expected to be able to find and develop existing potential to be managed into real activities or develop activities that have been initiated to be more developed and useful," said David as team leader.

Supporting sustainable grouper farming with NetFarms

Grouper fish farming has good prospects. But until now, farmers still face problems related to fish theft and high fish mortality rates due to inappropriate water conditions. These two problems prompted a team of UNY students to develop a Long Range (LoRa)--based floating net cage monitoring system with grouper theft detection features.

"Highly educated workers tend to be engaged in the formal, tertiary sector (trade and services) in urban areas. Notably, highly educated workers in the primary sector, especially agriculture, tend to decline, or in other words, there is de-agriculturalization in the distribution of highly educated workers. The open unemployment rate in the higher education group is urban and female," said Prof. Anwar Sanusi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, at the UNY Public Lecture.
