Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) once again reaffirmed its role as a higher education institution that promotes impactful innovation through the inauguration of four professors on Wednesday (13/5/2026) at the Main Meeting Hall of the Rectorate Building. More than just an academic ceremony, the inauguration presented major ideas about Indonesia’s future, ranging from environmentally friendly material technology and sustainable energy to sports development and character education for younger generations.

The perception that deaf individuals cannot enjoy or perform music is still commonly found in society. The assumption that music can only be accessed through hearing has long become a stigma that limits the expressive space of the deaf community. Through her latest academic work, Dr. Drijastuti Jogjaningrum, M.A., a lecturer in the Music Education Study Program at the Faculty of Languages, Arts, and Culture (FBSB), Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY), seeks to challenge this perception through her book entitled Exploring the Wonders of Deaf Musicality.

The Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) Gunungkidul campus hosted Leafestiva 2026 on Tuesday (May 5, 2026), an annual culinary festival themed “One Leaf, Endless Flavors: Leafestiva Full of Creativity.” The event featured a series of activities, including group exercise sessions, seminars, traditional tumpeng tiwul decoration, and exhibitions of food and beverage products.

The contribution of academics to improving the quality of human resources in society was once again demonstrated through the dedication of lecturers from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY). On Monday, 18 May 2026, Dr. Ranintya Meikahani, M.Pd., a lecturer from the Department of Elementary School Physical Education, Faculty of Sports Sciences and Health (FIKK) UNY, served as a speaker in the Third Batch of Sports Personnel Training. Held at Prima SR Hotel & Convention, the program involved 43 teachers from RA, MI, and MTs levels across Sleman Regency.
