UNY READY TO SYNERGY WITH MINISTRY OF VILLAGES FOR VILLAGE EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM

The Minister of Villages/PDTT, Abdul Halim Iskandar, M.Pd pointed out the importance of cross-institutional synergy in village development during Studium Generale at UNY on Saturday, 4 January 2019. UNY also had significant role because UNY, as a teacher training tertiary institution, had multiple empowerment programs for rural communities.

Halim knew very well that UNY had many community service programs.  Because Halim is an alumni of the 1987 Philosophy and Sociology of Education at UNY.

UNY ALUMNI MUST STRENGTHEN NETWORKING

Bachelor degree is the foundation, master degree and doctoral degree are the toppings. Therefore, it is important not to leave bachelor alma mater because we have to focus. Our only goal is to learn with all the challenges. If you have master degree then you already have a background of activity. Therefore we cannot be separated from the bachelor alma mater because there are so many things we get. As stated by the Minister of Villages, Abdul Halim Iskandar in the UNY Alumni Association Meeting at the UNY Hotel Saturday (4/1).

AVOIDING PLAGIARISM WITH MENDELEY APPLICATION

Scientific work is an important part of the world of education. With the Mendeley application, it will be easier to write various scientific works such as paper assignment, thesis, dissertation, research report and scientific journal. Mendeley desktop will enrich research reference sources, research result and compile writing according to correct citation procedure, managing reference documents and also help writers to learn the latest research development. For this reasons, Graduate Students Community of UNY organized Mendeley Training.

STUDENT OF FACULTY OF ENGINEERING UNY SUCCEEDED IN DEVELOPING SRIWEDARI VILLAGE AS TOURISM DESTINATION IN MAGELANG

Khabib Anwari, student of faculty of Engineering class 2015, succeeded in developing Sriwedari Village in Magelang as an active and productive village. The idea was started when Khabib and few students tried to design a program to develop and empowered people that was collaborated with the university during the Students Night of Culinary and Fashion Education Department in 2016. From the two days events, participated students expected to give solution for problems faced by the village people based on their scientific fields.

Technological developments have an impact on industrial development, which affects all aspects of people's lives. The 4.0 Industrial Revolution proposed by Germany in 2011 through digital transformation, the Internet of Things (IoT) and blockchain resulted in the growth of a new society system. This community utilizes an intelligent system based on artificial intelligence (AI) and IoT to make life prosperous through Society 5.0.

INAUGURATION OF PROFESSOR IN MATERIAL PHYSICS

For Indonesia, which is located on the equator, solar energy is an alternative renewable energy source that is very promising in fulfilling the needs of the non-pollutant energy. Therefore the development of solar energy utilization must be done both in the form of research in the laboratory and its application in the form of electric energy conversion technology that can be directly utilized by our society. However, the facts show that the utilization of the energy has not been carried out optimally.

UNY IS PREPARED TO BECOME A WORLD CLASS EDUCATION UNIVERSITY

UNY completed the Year 2019 with a proud performance achievement. The performance has been manifested by the various ranking achieved by UNY. UNY was ranked second in the 4ICU version, ranked seventh in the WCU version, ranked 16 in Webometric and Kemristekdikti, and ranked 19 in the Greenmetric version. Competitive ranks can also be viewed at the international level where UNY has surged in the 85th rank of the ASEAN QS version, ranked 301+ in WCU, and ranked 401+ in QS Asia.

THE IMPORTANCE OF CELLULAR TECHNOLOGY IN LEARNING

UNY’s Electronics Engineering and Informatics Education Study Program invited Dr. Elizabeth Hartnell-Young from The University of Melbourne as visiting professor. Hartnell has a special interest in professional learning, cellular technology, and large-scale digital systems such as eportfolios. This activity was attended by UNY’s master students of Electronics Engineering and Informatics Education.

MAINTAINING UNY ON GOING BIDIKMISI SCHOLARSHIP AWARDEE

A total of 944 Bidikmisi awardees attended the Bidikmisi Development on Going Academic Year / 2019 at UNY Thursday (12/19). Bidikmisi is a tuition assistance program from the government for high school or equivalent graduates who have good academic potential with poor financial background. It’s quite different from most scholarships that focus on giving awards or financial support to those who excel.
